Ball Aerospace Selects Senior Executives to Lead New Business Units

BOULDER, Colo., Dec. 30, 2008 – Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. has selected two senior executives to lead newly formed strategic business units designed to align more closely with customers and styles of contracting.
Dan Gibson has been named vice president and general manager for the Systems Engineering Solutions (SES) strategic business unit and is responsible for all aspects of SES operations and contract performance. Gibson has more than 25 years of experience successfully delivering systems and professional services to the defense and intelligence market. Gibson joined Ball Aerospace in 1997, and most recently served as Director of SES. He previously worked in business development and technical roles for Raytheon and General Dynamics.
Gibson holds a Master’s degree in Management and Administrative Sciences from the University of Texas, Dallas, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University.
The second newly established business unit, Antenna & Video Technologies (AVT), is led by Jim Oschmann. As Vice President and General Manager, Oschmann leads the strategy, acquisition and execution of programs for our nation’s tactical defense needs that apply antenna, radio frequency and video technology. Oschmann joined Ball in 2004 and most recently served as director of Program Execution for the Advanced Technologies & Products business unit. Oschmann previously served in technical and managerial positions across industry and the science community, including leadership positions at the Gemini Observatory and the National Solar Observatory. Earlier in his career, Oschmann worked in the aerospace industry at Sensis Corporation, Hughes Aircraft and TRW.
Oschmann holds a Master’s degree in Optical Sciences and Master's in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor’s degree in Optics from the University of Rochester.
